"IT’S ONLY A GAME"
Cal 2009 - 2012
acrylic, spray paint on canvas
100cm x 100cm

This is a scene adapted from a photograph of a popular modern warfare game. It seems unacceptable and strange that we indulge – and let our children indulge – in playing games that simulate death, chaos and destruction of other people’s lands. For many people and children, this is a reality and this is not a game. For these children, guns, bullets, rape, murder, torture and abuse are day-to-day threats and a real game of life and death. By allowing our children to play these games, we are immunizing them to the real horrors and injustices of war. The true heartbreak and pain of war is being diluted and is considered as ‘just a part of life’.

Fractional reserve banking.
Wealth is created through debt and when new wealth and currency is generated the value of the debt increases whilst the value of your currency decreases. This current system of fractional reserve banking can only expand in one direction un-till eventually it pops. Some may argue that this point has already happened. Fractional reserve banking and its role is to benefit the very few owners and share holders of the major world banks, the Federal Reserve and the Bank of England etc. It does not benefit the population or civilisation in the long term.

We are all the same.
version 2
spray paint on canvas 90cm x 90cm
This work continues with the concept and the theme of equality from version 1 painted in early summer 2012 and shares the same title. This version explores the concept further and uses colour and repetition to illustrate the notion that no one human being is inferior or superior to another. By design “we are all the same” it is only our perceptions of ourselves and others that leads us to believe different.

This single image is the most important image to me. It's the first image I remember making at a very young age. I sketched it on to my bedroom wall in ball point pen.

The scream of a future generation.
acrylic and spray paint on board.
Now, through even more transparency, we are only just starting to understand the impact we have made for the future and our future generations to come. I decided that I wanted to paint these emotions, almost instantly, this image of sheer anger, frustration, despair and disappointment overwhelmed me. The complete and utter greed, selfishness and lack of foresight and compassion for others that was displayed by companies and individuals was finally exposed by the 2008 financial disaster.
